24 April, 2015

On April 23-24, 2015 in the hall of the National Assembly of Korea a special exhibition event was held to commemorate the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. The event was organized by the Korea-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group and supported by the Embassy of Armenia to Korea, residence in Tokyo.

The exhibition presented dozens of photographs and posters, which told the story of the Armenian genocide. At the commemorative assembly on April 24, which was opened with a minute of silence, Mr. Noh Young Min, Chairman of Korea-Japan Parliamentary Group, Dr. Grant Pogosyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Korea and several other congressmen spoke about the genocide, which occurred at the beginning of the 20th century and stated facts about the atrocities. The speakers noted the importance of this commemorative event and the inevitability of proper recognition of the Armenian Genocide in order to prevent further occurrences of such crimes against humanity.

Over a hundred of Korean parliamentarians, including the speaker and the vice-speaker of the National Assembly, as well as other citizens from business, scientific and cultural circles visited the event, which was promptly reflected in Korean media.
