Foreign Minister of Armenia received Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina

On April 25, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina Héctor Timerman, who arrived in Yerevan to participate in the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centenary.

Edward Nalbandian expressed gratitude to his Argentinean counterpart for partaking in the commemorative events held in Yerevan.

During the meeting the Foreign Ministers reflected upon the issues on the agenda of bilateral relations, as well as exchanged thoughts on cooperation between Parliaments of two states.

Both sides highlighted the significance of consolidation of international community efforts in the fight against acts of genocide and crimes against humanity. In this regards, Minister Nalbandian placed importance to the joint efforts of the international community in the prevention of genocides and expressed gratitude to Argentina for co-sponsoring of Resolution “Prevention of Genocide” initiated by Armenia and adapted in March by the UN Human Rights Council.

Afterwards, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Argentina Edward Nalbandian and Héctor Timerman respectively, and First Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Republic of Argentina Norma Abdala de Matarazzo planted a fir-tree at the Memorial Alley in the memory of former President of Argentina Néstor Carlos Kirchner in appreciation of his input in recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

After the tree-planting Minister Nalbandian attached importance to the recognition of Armenian Genocide in 1994 by Argentina, stressed the high level of Armenian-Argentinean relations, emphasizing the valuable contribution of the Argentinean-Armenian community in it.
