Event in China dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

On May 4, a wreath laying ceremony was held at the Monument to Soviet and Mongolian soldiers to mark the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Hebei Province, China’s Zhangbei country.

The Ambassadors of 9 countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Ambassador of Mongolia, as well as representatives of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and local authorities participated in the event. Ambassador Armen Sargsyan laid a wreath on the behalf of the Embassy of Armenia.

Information: The Monument in Zhangbei was erected to commemorate the Soviet and Mongolian soldiers who were killed during the liberation war for China in August 1945. In total, around six hundred thousand Soviet soldiers, including many Armenians, took part in the battles over this area. Soviet troops suffered more than two thousand casualties.
