On May 6, political consultations were held between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Germany. From the Armenian side Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Garen Nazarian headed the consultations, and from the German one Special Envoy for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia at the German Foreign Office Cord Meier-Klodt.

During the consultations the sides discussed a wide range of cooperation issues on the Armenian-German bilateral and multilateral agenda, the current level of relations with the European Union and perspectives, Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Union, efforts exerted by the OSCE Minsk Group and Armenia towards peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Pressing regional issues and the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide were specifically reflected on.
