The newly-appointed Ambassador of Germany handed copies of credentials to the Foreign Minister of Armenia

On July 17 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received Matthias Kiesler, the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, on the occasion of handing over copies of his credentials.

Congratulating the Ambassador on the appointment and wishing him success during his mission, Minister Nalbandian expressed hope that Ambassador Kiesler will contribute to the deepening and strengthening of the Armenian-German friendly relations by his mission.

Expressing gratitude for the good wishes, the newly-appointed Ambassador reassured, that he would spare no efforts to strengthen the Armenian-German cooperation in various sectors.

The interlocutors attached importance to the mutual visits on a high level, the enhancement of the legal framework, including more than 60 bilateral documents. Reference was made to the consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, as well as to the trade and economic, scientific and cultural cooperation.

Edward Nalbandian expressed gratitude for Germany's continued support to Armenia since the independence.

Presenting the events carried out during the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide, Minister Nalbandian highly appreciated Germany’s president Joachim Gauck’s announcement on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

During the meeting issues relating to the Armenia-European Union cooperation were discussed. Reference was made to Germany’s Presidency in the OSCE during the following year.

The sides exchanged thoughts on international and regional pressing issues. Within this context reference was made to the agreement reached over the Iranian nuclear program.

Upon the request of Ambassador Kiesler, the Armenian Foreign Minister presented the latest developments over the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as well as the efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group towards its peaceful settlement.
