Minister Edward Nalbandian continues his meetings in New York

On September 27, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. During the meeting the sides highly appreciated the existing friendly relations between the two countries, highlighted the implementation of joint projects and the expansion of cooperation.

The upcoming mutual visits, as well as the activity of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission were discussed.

The Ministers Nalbandian and Zarif touched upon the implementation of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. The Ministers exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues.

At the UN headquarters Edward Nalbandian met with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar Detho, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations on the economic development of Asia and the Pacific region, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP).

During the meeting Dr. Shamshad Akhtar Detho presented to Edward Nalbandian the activity of the institution she leads. The interlocutors touched upon the problems the landlocked countries are facing, as well as discussed the opportunities of cooperation between Armenia and the UN ESCAP. In this context, Dr. Akhtar informed that the UN ESCAP's next annual conference will be dedicated to the problems of landlocked countries.

On the same day Edward Nalbandian received the delegation of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), headed by David Harris, the AJC Executive Director. The Minister highly appreciated the American Jewish Committee's principled stance on the Armenian Genocide. Edward Nalbandian attached importance to the international joint efforts aimed at the condemnation and prevention of crimes against humanity.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the situation in the South Caucasus and the Middle East, as well as on a number of regional and international issues.
