Meeting of Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Burundi Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

On October 11, the meetings of FM Edward Nalbandian continued on the sidelines of the 31st session of the Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). The first meeting was with Alain Aimé Nyamitwe, Burundi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian expressed gratitude for the participation at the OIF Ministerial Conference, expressing hope, that the event will enable the development of diplomatic relations established back in 1992.

Thanking for the reception and high level of organization of the event, Burundi’s FM mentioned, that a number of his country’s citizens graduated from Armenia’s universities and now contribute to the development of the country.

Alain Aimé Nyamitwe presented priorities of his state’s foreign policy, attached importance to the cooperation within different international institutions and the OIF.

Agreement was reached on the establishment of the mechanism to hold regular consultations between the MFAs of two states, significance was placed to the formation of legal framework, development of collaboration in the fields of trade, economy, culture and education. The Ministers also exchanged thoughts over the issues on the agenda of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

Minister Nalbandian presented the message and meaning of the events on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
