Meeting of Foreign Minister of Armenia and Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of Indonesia

On October 12, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbanian had a meeting with Irman Gusman, Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the Parliament of Indonesia, and the delegation headed by him.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that he recalls with warmth his visit to Jakarta and outlined that agreements reached during his visit are being implemented. The Minister attached importance to the first visit of high-level delegation from Indonesia to Armenia, and stressed that the visit of representative delegation opens a new page in bilateral relations.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Irman Gusman commended his visit to Yerevan, considering symbolic the fact that his visit coincided with the celebration of the Day of Yerevan, a city which has a millenniums-old history.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the ways to develop bilateral cooperation. In this regard they attached importance to intensification of political dialogue, expansion of legal framework, facilitation of cultural exchanges, enlargement of decentralized collaboration.

The signing of agreement on visa facilitation and memorandum on consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries during the forthcoming meeting of the Foreign Ministers was discussed.

Edward Nalbandian presented to the guest the main directions and priorities of foreign policy of Armenia. Foreign Minister mentioned that Armenia is ready to expand multi-dimensional cooperation with the Asian region and added that the opening of embassies in that part of the world serves that very goal.

At the meeting wide range of issues on bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary ties was discussed. The interlocutors emphasized importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the development and deepening of bilateral relations, and the necessity of undertaking steps in that direction.
