Foreign Minister Nalbandian participated at the session of CIS Council of Foreign Ministers

On October 15, Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of Armenia, participated at the regular session of CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Astana.
 

Foreign Ministers of CIS member-states discussed and agreed upon drafts of over two dozens of documents on cooperation in different areas in the frameworks of the CIS.

During the meeting, a range of documents was also agreed upon on cooperation within CIS in the fields of law enforcement, investigation, emergency, protection of minor's right, culture and education.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CIS states agreed upon a draft of the address of the heads of CIS states on the 30th anniversary of Chernobyl disaster.

Foreign Ministers touched upon issues on the agenda of the CIS.

Delivering speech at the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, Minister Nalbandian reflected on the draft of the address of the heads of CIS states on the 70th anniversary of the United Nations. He attached importance to the leading role of the UN in promoting of peace and security around the globe. In Edward Nalbandian’s words, adoption of the statement of the CIS states’ heads indicates commitment to the UN Charter purposes and principles. “We believe that direct or indirect violation of the UN principles, selective implementation of them, unilateral sanctions, including the blockade, strengthening of their own security at the expense of other states are unacceptable”, outlined the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

The Foreign Minister spoke about the necessity of coordinated fight against terrorist groups. “Joint actions to prevent so-called “foreign terrorist-fighters” phenomena are of utmost importance”, - Edward Nalbandian stressed.
