Meeting of Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Germany’s Federal Foreign Office Special Representative

On October 28, Garen Nazarian, Deputy Foreign Minister, received Ambassador Andreas Peschke, Federal Foreign Office Special Representative for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, who arrived in Armenia in the framework of regional visit.

During the meeting, issues on the agenda of Armenian-German bilateral relations were discussed. The sides stressed the high level of the projects on cooperation in different fields, i.e. culture, science and education, trade and economic, military-political, inter-parliamentary ties and sustainable development.

Garen Nazarian touched upon the regional developments, presented the continuing gross violations of cease-fire regime along the border with Armenia and along the Line of Contact with Nagorno-Karabakh and the dangerous provocations initiated by the Azerbaijani side. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia also mentioned that officials from Baku do not cease their propaganda of threat and hatred, which does not create favourable conditions to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at the peaceful settlement of the issue.

Andreas Peschke assured, that during 2016 German Chairmanship in the OSCE, Berlin would continue contribution to the mediation efforts of the Co-Chairs, in his turn, also attached importance to the implementation of confidence and security building measures.

The sides agreed upon continuation of effective on-going political dialogue, cooperation within multi-lateral formats and platforms.
