The event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Athens

On November 18, the War Museum of Athens hosted an event entitled “Hundred Years after the Armenian Genocide” organized on the initiative of the “Circle of Diplomats” of former Ambassadors of Greece.

The event was attended by the members of foreign missions accredited to Greece, as well as by the representatives of Greek diplomatic, military and academic circles, heads and members of the Greek-Armenian community and religious institutions.

Ambassador of Armenia Gagik Ghalatchian addressed the audience with opening remarks. He presented the efforts undertaken by the Republic of Armenia in various international forums to promote the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and prevention of crimes against humanity.

Former Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Ambassador ad honorem Manos Megalokonomos delivered a speech on the subject of “Vital space and genocide”. Former Ambassador of Greece to Armenia Leonidas Chrisanthopoulos spoke about the Armenian Genocide in historical perspective, whereas the legal aspects of the Armenian Genocide were presented by Vasilis Patronas, former Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece.
