The Armenian-Slovenian political consultations in Ljubljana

On February 9, political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Slovenia were held in Ljubljana. The Armenian and Slovenian delegations were headed, respectively, by Garen Nazarian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and Tomaz Lovrenčič, the Director General for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia. Sargis Ghazarian, the Ambassador of Armenia to Slovenia (residence in Rome), participated in the consultations.

The sides discussed a wide range of issues concerning the Armenian-Slovenian relations, including the prospects of promoting bilateral political and economic relations and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the progress made in the Armenia-EU relations. They also touched upon the cooperation within the framework of intergovernmental organizations and parliamentary assemblies, and exchanged views on regional developments.

During the working launch with Dragoljuba Benčina, Foreign Secretary of Slovenia, the sides expressed willingness to support efforts and initiatives aimed at developing and strengthening bilateral relations, as well as the cooperation between the two states within the UN and other international organizations.

The delegation headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister had a meeting with Janez Lenarčič, State Secretary of Slovenia. During the meeting issues concerning the development of bilateral relations were discussed. Special reference was made to the issues of regional security and stability, as well as the approaches and efforts of Armenia towards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

During his visit to Ljubljana Deputy Foreign Minister also met with Mitja Bervar, the President of the National Council of Slovenia.
