Political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain

Political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain took place on April 12 in Yerevan.

The consultations were chaired by Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Head of the European Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and Mr. Enrique Mora Benavente, Director General for foreign policy and security issues, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain.

During the consultations the Armenian and Spanish delegates discussed questions of bilateral agenda. Both sides stressed the importance of activation of the political dialogue, development of inter-parliamentary relations, as well as discussed further efforts towards the enlargement of economic and trade ties between two countries. The sides referred to the cooperation within international organizations.

On the same day the Spanish delegation had met with Mr. Garen Nazarian, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. During the meeting the sides touched upon the issues of regional and international agenda, exchanged views on the prospects of Armenia-EU cooperation.

In the course of the consultations the sides touched upon the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh after the recent aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan.

Spanish delegation also had a meeting with Mr. Vigen Sargsyan, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration, as well as with Members of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly.

The Spanish delegated visited the Memorial of the Armenian Genocide and paid tribute to the memory of innocent victims.
