Foreign Minister of Armenia is awarded with Human Rights League of Spain Gold Medal

On April 23, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received José Francisco Alonso Rodríguez, President of the Human Rights League of Spain.

Mr. Rodríguez informed that the Council of the Organization headed by him, commending the personal input of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia in protection of the human rights and strengthening of international security, adopted a decision to award Edward Nalbandian with the Human Rights League of Spain Gold Medal.

Edward Nalbandian, expressing gratitude for being considered worthy of this award, assured that as a representative of survived nation, the Foreign Minister of Armenia considers fight for protection of human rights, and first and foremost that of life, for prevention of crimes against humanity his priority.

José Francisco Alonso Rodríguez mentioned that in the international arena Armenia is perceived as a pioneer in the fight for prevention of genocide, and commended Edward Nalbandian’s personal input in this fight, as a high-ranking official, permanently focusing on that issue.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia expressed gratitude to the President of the Human Rights League of Spain for participation in the Second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide and for his input in the Forum.

Information. The Human Rights League of Spain is a legal successor of the League of Protection of Human and Citizen Rights of Spain, established in 1913, aimed to spread and reaffirm inalienable personal rights. A number of prominent intellectuals, politicians and artists, as Dali, Ortega y Gasset, Miró, García Lorca, Américo Castro were among the members of the League.

Human Rights League of Spain is engaged in the protection of human rights in international institutions. It also has a special consultative status at the UN Economic and Social Council.

Human Rights League of Spain Gold Medal is awarded for the establishment of peace, input in equality of rights and the field of human rights.

Human Rights various national Leagues awarded such persons as Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Cardinal Vicente Tarancón and number of former presidents, prime-ministers, officials of the UN human rights.
