Foreign Minister of Armenia received Labour Minister of Lebanon

On April 25, Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of Armenia received Sejaan Azzi, Labour Minister of Lebanon.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian expressed gratitude for participation in the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, stressing that the Armenian people recalls with gratitude open hearted reception of the survivors of the Genocide by the Lebanese, and commends recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Lebanon back in 2000.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Minister Azzi mentioned that it is a great honour for him to represent the Lebanese Government in Yerevan at the events dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. He added that Lebanon lends importance to strengthening of close cooperation with friendly Armenia and is ready to exert additional efforts in this direction.

During the meeting forthcoming steps for the development of the Armenian-Lebanese relations were discussed. In this regard, importance was attached to the role of the Armenian community of Lebanon, which, according to Minister Azzi, is actively engaged in the political, economic and cultural life of Lebanon. Thoughts were exchanged over ways to facilitate economic cooperation; the necessity of resumption of the activities of the Armenian-Lebanese Inter-governmental Committee was stressed.

The Interlocutors reflected on the latest developments in the Middle East, efforts exerted for stabilization of the situation, issues of protection of national and religious minorities.
