President of Finland received the Foreign Minister of Armenia

On May 3, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who pays an official visit to Helsinki, was received by Sauli Niinistö, President of Finland.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Edward Nalbandian extended to the President of Finland the good wishes and greetings of the President of Armenia, and reaffirmed the invitation to visit Yerevan. Minister Nalbandian presented to President Niinistö the agreements reached during his visit to Helsinki and emphasized that Armenia is ready to further deepen and strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with Finland.

Issues on strengthening of cooperation in a range of fields were discussed; the necessity to expand the legal framework was stressed. The sides highlighted the huge potential for the development of cooperation, necessity to facilitate business ties.

Edward Nalbandian presented to the President of Finland the situation unfolded in the result of large-scale military actions unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh and outlined the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs for stabilization of the situation.

President Niinistö, expressing Finland’s unconditional support for efforts on peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, stressed that the settlements of the issues should be reached only through negotiations.

Armenia-European Union relations were touched upon during the meeting.

The interlocutors exchanged thoughts on number of pressing international issues, i.e. developments in the Middle East, migration flows resulted, Ukrainian crisis.

President of Finland asked to convey his warm greetings to President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.
