Political consultations between the MFAs of Armenia and Mexico

On September 23, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the United Mexican States was held at the MFA of Armenia. The consultations were conducted by Arman Akopian, the Head of the Department of Americas of the MFA of Armenia, and Francisco del Río, Director General for Europe of the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs.

A wide range of issues concerning the development of bilateral relations, expansion of legal framework, promotion of trade and economic cooperation, deepening of collaboration within the framework of international organizations was discussed. The sides exchanged views on current international and regional issues. An importance was attached to the holding of regular consultations between the Foreign Ministries of two countries.

In the course of visit, the Mexican delegation also had meetings with Ashot Hovakimian and Robert Harutyunyan, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia.

During the meeting with Deputy Foreign minister Hovakimian regional issues were discussed, including the recent developments in a number of Latin American countries, around the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process, as well as those related to the Armenian-Mexican relations.

At the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Harutyunyan, the sides touched upon the possibilities of promoting bilateral relations between Armenia and Mexico, particularly, in the field of trade and economy, outlined the necessity of organizing mutual visits of business sector, as well as discussed issues related to the establishment of legal framework on economic sector. The two exchanged views on the current economic situation in Armenia and Mexico and the perspectives of development.
