Deputy Foreign Minister Garen Nazarian participated in a Brussels Conference on Afghanistan

On October 5, Conference on Afghanistan “Partnership for Prosperity and Peace” was held in Brussels, co-hosted by the European Union and the Government of Afghanistan. The conference was aimed to renew unequivocal support of the international community to Afghanistan in sustaining peace and stability and advancing its economic development and reforms in wide-range of areas.

Along with the Foreign Ministers of 80 countries, high level representatives and delegates, the UN and NATO Secretary Generals and Heads of international organizations, Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative, Ashraf Ghani, President of Afghanistan and Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of Afghanistan, also partook in this event.

In his remarks, Garen Nazarian, Deputy Foreign Minister, outlined that Armenia is determined to bring its commensurate contribution to the collective efforts in maintaining peace and security and establishing rule of law in Afghanistan. It was with this very aim that our country joined the international coalition in 2010.

At the Conference, Deputy Minister Nazarian reaffirmed that Armenia stands ready to continue its contribution with its current strength level to the Resolute Support Mission on a present level and added that Armenia supports the Afghan led, inclusive peace process in Afghanistan that would ultimately lead to sustainable peace, promotion of good-neighbourly relations as well as regional cooperation.
