Foreign Minister received the German Bundestag delegation

On October 5, Edward Nalbandian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, received the German Bundestag delegation headed by Johannes Singhammer, the Vice President of the German legislative body.

Welcoming the visit of representative delegation to Armenia, Minister Nalbandian noted, that the frequent visits of the members of German Bundestag prove the intensity and importance of parliamentary diplomacy.

Edward Nalbandian outlined that effective cooperation has been established between both executive and legislative bodies of the two countries. Taking the opportunity, Minister Nalbandian expressed gratitude for the adoption of resolution recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide by Bundestag and the principal stance of the German legislatives on that issue.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia commended the fact that Germany is Armenia’s third largest trading partner and the first largest among the EU members countries.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Johannes Singhammer presented the purpose of the visit of German parliamentarians and the outcomes of their meetings.

Upon the guests’ request, Minister Nalbandian presented the Armenia-European Union relations and the ongoing negotiations over the new legal basis.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia touched upon the issues related to the current situation in the Middle East, the minority issues in that region, the fight against terrorism, the migration flows, as well as Armenia’s approaches on a number of other regional processes.

Edward Nalbandian presented to the Bundestag delegation the steps aimed at overcoming the consequences of military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh in April, efforts exerted by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries towards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
