Ambassador Mkrtchyan’s meeting with the members of the Lithuanian Seimas’ Friendship Group

On December 13, Tigran Mkrtchyan, the Armenian Ambassador to Lithuania, met with the members of the newly-formed Armenian-Lithuanian Seimas’ Friendship Group.
Ambassador Mkrtchyan said that the Armenian-Lithuanian Friendship Group is one of the biggest amongst the Seimas’ parliamentary groups and expressed hope that it will be one of the most active groups as well.

Povilas Urbsys, Head of the Lithuanian Friendship Group represented the participating members of the group to the Ambassador. He said that the group will exert all possible efforts to push forward the agenda of bilateral relations.

The sides discussed the prospects of development of bilateral relations in political, economic and cultural spheres.

Ambassador Mkrtchyan presented the priorities of Armenia's foreign policy to the members of the group.

Hamburg statement on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict made by the heads of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs states’ delegations, as well as Azerbaijan’s unacceptable behavior and destructive statements diametrically opposed to the position of Armenia and appeals of the mediators were touched upon.

The Ambassador presented the efforts made by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs towards pushing forward the negotiation process.

During the meeting both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening of ties between the parliamentary friendship groups, in which context the importance of mutual visits of the members was particularly underlined.
