06 March, 2017

On March 6, discussions over Armenia-European Union 2017-2020 Partnership Priorities document took place under the coordination of the Deputy Minister Karen Nazarian.

The European side was represented by the officials of the European External Action Service and the European Commission, who had arrived to Yerevan to participate in the discussions, as well as the head of the EU delegation in Yerevan. The Armenian side was represented by the representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other interested agencies.

The draft of the abovementioned document, which reflects four priority directions defined by the joint declaration of the Riga Summit of the Eastern Partnership as well as commitments undertaken by both sides, was discussed during the meeting.

The approaches of the parties towards main sections of the draft, namely the effective governance and strengthening of institutions, economic development and market opportunities, communication, energy efficiency, environment, mobility and people-to-people contacts, were discussed.

It is envisaged that the Partnership Priorities will be approved by the Armenia-EU Cooperation Council, which is the supreme body regulating bilateral relations.
