The Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement initialled

On March 21 Edward Nalbandian, Foreign MInister of Armenia received Luc Devigne, Director of Eastern Partnership, Russia, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and the OSCE of the European External Action Service and Petros Sourmelis, Head of Unit in the Directorate General on Trade of the European Commission.

Minister Nalbandian welcomed the EU officials’ visit, aimed to initial the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and expressed confidence that the document will open a new page in relationships between Armenia on the one hand and the EU and its member-states on the other.

Edward Nalbandian emphasized that the Agreement will be signed this year and added that it will reflect the depth, level and scope of Armenia-European Union relations. The Head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that the Agreement attest to the importance that Armenia attaches to its cooperation with the European Union.

The meeting was followed by the ceremony of initialling the Armenia – EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

Garen Nazarian, Chief negotiator, Deputy Foreign Minister and Garegin Melkonian, Trade lead negotiator, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments initialled the agreement on behalf of the Republic of Armenia. Luc Devigne, Director of Eastern Partnership, Russia, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and the OSCE of the European External Action Service and Petros Sourmelis, Head of Unit in the Directorate General on Trade of the European Commission initialled the agreement on behalf of the European Union.
