Signing of Grant agreement between Governments of Armenia and Japan

On March 30, the ceremony of signing of a Grant agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of Japan on the “Project for Improvement of Equipment for Digitizing Archival Records of Armenian Public Television” took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

In the presence of Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, the agreement on behalf of Armenia was signed by Vahan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, and on behalf of Japan by Eiji Taguchi, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Armenia.

The event was attended by Katsutoshi Fushimi, Chief Representative of Japan International Agency /JICA/, Samvel Farmanyan, head of the Armenia-Japan parliamentary friendship group, Ruben Jaghinyan, Chairman of the Council of Public TV and Radio Company of Armenia.

In continuation of the signed agreement, Vahan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia, Katsutoshi Fushimi, Chief Representative of JICA and Margarita Grigoryan, Executive Director of the Public TV Company signed the Grant document, regulating the modalities of provision of relevant goods and/or services.

In his speech, delivered after the signing ceremony, Vahan Martirosyan, Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia, emphasised the importance of the signed agreement and noted that it is another step towards further development of cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, in his turn, underlined that since providing an assistance for the works aimed at preservation of the documents of Matenadaran in 2001 this is the second cooperation project of this kind between the two Governments. According to Ambassador, archives not only preserve the national heritage but also inspire the young generation to creating new works for the future.
