Exchange of letters between Nalbandian and Tillerson on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations

Foreign Minister of Armenia and the US Secretary of State exchanged letters on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Edward Nalbandian notes in his message that throughout the past quarter of a century Armenia and the United States have developed friendly relationship deeply rooted in mutual trust and respect, and have registered numerous remarkable achievements in various fields.

Foreign Minister of Armenia underlines that the United States was the first country to establish its Embassy in Armenia and to stand by the new independent state, including through wide assistance programs that were especially indispensable during the first years of state-building.

Minister Nalbandian writes that Armenian-American high level political dialogue advances steadily. The two countries maintain strong cooperation in international organizations contributing to the worldwide efforts in addressing the common challenges and threats.

Foreign Minister of Armenia expresses confidence that the Armenia-US Task Force and the Trade and Investment Council provide an effective framework for moving forward the economic relations. Touching upon the US development programs and investment projects, Minister Nalbandian notes that they are an important part of bilateral cooperation which we intend to expand as widely as possible.

In his message Minister Nalbandian stresses that people-to-people contacts between the two countries are expanding. According to the Minister, Armenia and the United States have an effective cooperation in such fields as science and technology, culture and education, and many others.

Minister Nalbandian notes that Armenia highly values the important role played by the United States as a Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and reiterates Armenia’s determination to continue the joint efforts together with the Co-Chairs aimed at exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Edward Nalbandian emphasizes the tangible contribution made by the Armenian community of America to the ties between the two countries, expressing confidence that it will continue to remain an important bridge of Armenian-American partnership.

The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in his message highly appreciates the partnership between Armenia and the United States over the last quarter century.

Secretary of State Tillerson notes that Armenian-Americans have an invaluable contribution to the development of Armenia and the United States.

Speaking of the future of the Armenian-American relations, Rex Tillerson emphasizes that the United States will continue the cooperation with the Government, business sector, and the civil society of Armenia over initiatives that advance security, democracy and the economic development.

Touching upon the growing economic cooperation between Armenia and the US, Secretary of State Tillerson notes that the US investments in Armenia have reached historic levels in recent years, which is particularly promising.

The US Secretary of State highlights that Armenia has tremendous potential and expresses optimism with regards to further strengthening of mutually beneficial trade and economic ties between the two countries.

The Secretary of State stresses that as a Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States remains firmly committed to supporting a peaceful resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
