Foreign Minister of Armenia met with Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See

On June 7, in Vatican, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy See.

The interlocutors touched upon the visit of Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, to the Holy See in 2015 and the historical liturgy in commemoration of the victims of the Armenian Genocide performed by Pope Francis at the St. Peter’s Basilica, as well as the visit of the Holy Bishop of Rome paid to Armenia last year.

At the meeting, thoughts were exchanged on the issues concerning a wide range of bilateral agenda and the events to be held in the near future.

Minister Nalbandian and Archbishop Gallagher touched upon the urgent regional and international issues, such as the developments in the Middle East, particularly, the protection of the ethnic and religious minorities, the fight of the international community against terrorism.

Upon the request of Archbishop Gallagher, Minister Nalbandian briefed him on the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries directed to an exclusively peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
