Foreign Minister of Armenia received OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs

10 June, 2017

On June 10, Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of Armenia, received the OSE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov, Stefan Visconti, Richard Hoagland and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.

Edward Nalbandian drew the attention of the Co-Chairs to the fact, that at the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan held in Moscow in April, an agreement was reached in the presence of the Co-Chairs to issue identical texts of press releases on the meeting. Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Russia honoured this agreement. Whereas, as usual, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan not only failed to keep the agreement to emphasise the importance of implementation of the agreements reached at the last year’s summits but instead made a ridiculous comment alleging that at the Moscow negotiations the Foreign Ministers discussed the negotiations held at the summits.

Foreign Minister of Armenia underlined that even though the May 18 statement of the Co-Chairs was not the first targeted one, Azerbaijan continues not only to ignore and disregard the calls and appeals of the Co-Chairs but also to oppose them. According to the Minister, this gives rise to a situation when the Co-Chair countries, as an internationally mandated format for the mediation and settlement efforts, should not only issue statements, but also undertake relevant specific steps in order to curb this provocative and destructive policy of Azerbaijan.
