25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Singapore

On July 1, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Singapore exchanged letters on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Singapore.

In his letter, Edward Nalbandian notes that during the past quarter of a century of interstate relations, our two nations established a strong partnership and close cooperation in a number of areas and registered numerous remarkable achievements in bilateral relations.

Minister Nalbandian states, that the visit of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, in his capacity as Minister Mentor of Singapore, to Armenia in 2009 and the state visit of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to Singapore in 2012 were milestone events in boosting the relations.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia underlines, that Singapore's path towards development and prosperity is inspiring for Armenia. Edward Nalbandian adds that Armenia values the friendly relations, and expresses confidence that through joint efforts the two countries will further expand the partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.

In his message Vivian Balakrishnan underlines that Singapore and Armenia have established friendly relations and are closely cooperating at international fora, stressing that as small states they share similar perspectives.

The Minister of Singapore notes, that he fondly recalls the meeting with Foreign Minister of Armenia on the sidelines of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 21, 2016, where they discussed the challenges faced by small states.

Minister Balakrishnan appreciates Armenia`s strong support for the Eurasian Economic Union - Singapore Free Trade agreement, which, in his view, will bring economic benefits both to our countries and to our regions.

The Foreign Minister of Singapore expresses willingness to continue the joint work aimed at further strengthening of bilateral relations for the benefit of the two peoples.
