25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Sweden

On July 10, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Sweden Edward Nalbandian and Margot Wallström exchanged letters on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and the Kingdom of Sweden.

In his message, Minister Nalbandian notes with satisfaction, that throughout the last quarter of the century a strong and friendly partnership and effective cooperation was forged between the two countries, comprising political dialogue, partnership within the framework of international organisations, inter-parliamentary ties, trade, cultural and academic exchanges and many other fields.

Foreign Minister of Armenia expresses confidence that through joint efforts it will be possible to further deepen and expand the mutual partnership for the benefit of two friendly countries and peoples.

Foreign Minister of Sweden Margot Wallström in her message notes, in particular, that relations with Armenia continue to develop in a positive direction. Minister further states that the increased cooperation with Armenia remains important for Sweden, both bilaterally and in the framework of the recently finalized Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

Minister Wallström underlines, that there is a great potential for increased exchanges between the two countries in several areas, such Human Rights and freedoms. The dialogue in bilateral and multilateral fora, including in the United Nations, will provide a solid foundation for enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation.
