On October 5, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received the delegation of the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the EU Council headed by Ambassador Walter Stevens. The delegation included Ambassadors of all EU member states, which are representatives of their countries at the Political and Security Committee of the EU Council, as well as high level officials of the EU Council, European Commission and European External Action Service (EEAS).

Welcoming the guests, Minister Nalbandian highlighted the importance of holding regular meetings with the European Union at different levels.

The comprehensive cooperation between Armenia and the EU in a number of areas of mutual interest was commended. Minister Nalbandian valued the EU's continuous support to ongoing reforms in Armenia.

The interlocutors agreed that signing of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement could become one of the important achievements of the EU Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels.

The sides touched upon the urgent issues of the regional and international agenda. Edward Nalbandian briefed on the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and on the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In this context Minister Nalbandian noted that Baku refuses for years to implement the agreements reached at the highest level, rejects the proposals of the Co-Chair countries and thus hampers the advancement of the process of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. According to the Minister, Baku always rejects the proposals of the Co-Chair countries."If Azerbaijan really wants to settle the conflict on the basis of proposals of the Co-Chairs, who enjoy the support of the international community, it should reaffirm its willingness and implement in practice what they propose: exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict, unconditional implementation of 1994-1995 ceasefire agreements. Baku should prove its commitment to the principles of international law proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries - non-use of force or threat of force, equal rights and self-determination of peoples, territorial integrity, and to the elements of settlement, which have been worked out and presented to the parties as an integrated whole," underlined Armenian Foreign Minister.
