Newly appointed Ambassador of France presented copies of credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia

On October 6, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received the newly appointed Ambassador of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte on the occasion of handing over the copies of credentials.


Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, Minister Nalbandian wished him success and expressed hope that Jonathan Lacôte would contribute with his work to the further development of the Armenian-French privileged relations.

Thanking for good wishes, Ambassador Lacôte assured that he would make every effort to expand and deepen the Armenian-French exclusive relations.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, touched upon the high-level political dialogue, cooperation within international organisations, expansion of the robust legal framework, active inter-parliamentary contacts, decentralized cooperation, multifaceted educational and cultural ties. Both sides attached importance to the valuable role of French-Armenian community in strengthening relations between the two countries.

The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and French Ambassador exchanged views on trade-economic cooperation and issues related to increasing the volume of French investments in Armenia.

The agenda of the meeting included Armenia - European Union cooperation and the preparatory work for the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels.

The sides exchanged views on the issues related to the Summit of the Heads of States and Governments of la Francophonie to be held next year in Yerevan.

Edward Nalbandian highlighted the role of France, as the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair country, in the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
