Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Harutyunyan meets with FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia

On October 18, Deputy Minister of Armenia Robert Harutyunyan received Vladimir Rakhmanin, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia.

Deputy Foreign Minister attached an importance to the cooperation with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and expressed his gratitude for the support rendered by the organisation in the implementation of various programmes in agricultural field in Armenia.

At the meeting, the sides touched upon the UN-related reforms, and the issues related to sustainable development, food security, climate change and poverty reduction.

Both sides highlighted the importance of the EAEU and the UN FAO cooperation within the context of collaboration with regards the regulatory field of agricultural sector.

The parties expressed conviction that the development of legal framework will further promote cooperation between Armenia and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and will facilitate the launch of new projects.

Vladimir Rakhmanin thanked the Armenian government for continued support and expressed hope that Armenia will take an active part in the development of the programmes within the framework of the next regional meeting to be held in Voronezh, in 2018.
