Political consultations between Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Oman

On November 5-6, political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Oman took place in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. From the Armenian side the consultations were chaired by Armen Papikyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, and from the Omani side by Mohammed Bin Awad Al Hassan, Acting Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the warm and friendly relations existing between the two countries and the importance of holding regular political consultations. During the consultations, a wide range of issues of bilateral relations were touched upon, including the course of implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Oman held in Munich in February. The sides also touched upon the steps aimed at promoting trade, economic, scientific, educational, cultural cooperation and tourism. They exchanged views on regional and subregional challenges. Within the framework of consultations it was particularly emphasized and the agreement was reached with regards to works aimed at enhancing bilateral legal framework between Armenia and Oman.

The sides also touched upon the perspectives of deepening and strengthening the collaboration between the two countries and highlighted the necessity of elaborating a working agenda for the steps to be taken in that direction.

Within the framework of the consultations, the delegation headed by Deputy Minister Papikyan also had meetings with Dr. Rawya Saud Al Busaidi, Minister of Higher Education of Oman. The prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education were discussed during the meeting.

During the visit Armen Papikyan also had meetings with Saeed bin Saleh Saeed Al Kiyumi, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Oman, and number of other officials.
