On November 9, Deputy Foreign Minister Garen Nazarian received Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, who is in Armenia on a working visit.

Welcoming the high-level CoE guest on behalf of the Foreign Minister of Armenia, Garen Nazarian highlighted the importance of the expert assistance provided by the Congress for the reforms aimed at strengthening the local democracy in Armenia, including within the framework of the roadmap signed in June, 2016. He touched upon the programmes in the field of local democracy that are implemented with the support of the Council of Europe, as well as the prospects of further cooperation.

A wide range of issues related to the cooperation with the Council of Europe and, particularly, with the CoE Congress, was also discussed at the meeting. Both sides highly appreciated the active cooperation with the organization, stressing the consistency and dynamic implementation of CoE commitments undertaken by Armenia.
