Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Malta

On the margins of the 24th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Carmelo Abela, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Promotion of Malta. 


In the course of the meeting, Edward Nalbandian first congratulated Carmelo Abela on assuming the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta and expressed hope that due to joint efforts a new impetus will be given to the bilateral cooperation.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the steps to be undertaken towards the expansion of the bilateral cooperation. In this context, the establishment of legal framework, organization of consultations between the Foreign Ministries and intensification of inter-parliamentary ties were highlighted.

The Ministers touched upon the opportunities of enhancing trade and economic cooperation and discussed ways of boosting cultural exchanges.

The sides highlighted the importance of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement signed between Armenia and the European Union, by stressing that it serves as a good basis for cooperation between Armenia, EU and its members states.

Concluding the meeting, Edward Nalbandian and Carmelo Abela signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Culture between the Governments of Armenia and Malta.
