Newly appointed Ambassador of Chile handed over copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister of Armenia

On February 15, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received the newly appointed Ambassador of Chile Rodrigo Nieto (residence in Moscow) on the occasion of handing over the copies of his credentials.

Congratulating Ambassador Nieto on his appointment, Foreign Minister Nalbandian noted that the official visit of President Serzh Sargsyan to Chile in 2014 gave a new impetus to the relations between the two countries. Foreign Minister expressed hope that Ambassador Nieto with his work would contribute to the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the President aimed at the expansion and strengthening of relations between Armenia and Chile.

Expressing gratitude for the reception and congratulations, Rodrigo Nieto assured that Chile is interested in deepening relations with Armenia and he would do his utmost in this respect.

Edward Nalbandian thanked Ambassador Nieto for the resolutions on Recognition and Condemnation of the Armenian Genocide adopted by the Senate of Chile in 2007 and by the Parliament in 2015.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues related to the development of cooperation between the two countries in different spheres, holding consultations between the Foreign Ministries, strengthening cooperation within the framework of international organizations, developing legal framework, intensifying contacts in the inter-parliamentary format, as well as promoting trade and economic relations.

Minister Nalbandian briefed his interlocutor on the latest developments with regards to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the joint efforts of Armenia and the Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict.
