Edward Nalbandian delivered a statement at the plenary session of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament

On February 21, Edward Nalbandian, while being in Brussels on a working visit, delivered a statement at the plenary session of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.

In his statement addressed to European parliamentarians Foreign Minister Nalbandian presented in details the Armenia-European Union relations, touched upon the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, underlining that this important document provides great opportunities for deepening the cooperation in various spheres.

Highlighting the importance of meetings with the members of the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs, Edward Nalbandian noted with satisfaction that since the similar meeting, held in May of the last year, there has been a great progress achieved in Armenia-EU relations, the peak of which was the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement at the Brussels Summit.

Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the initiative of the President of Armenia on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, put forward in 2008, and the developments that followed.

Minister Nalbandian touched upon the issue of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, underlining the importance of principled position of the European Parliament.

In the speech of the Foreign Minister of Armenia, an important attention was paid to the settlement process of the Karabakh conflict and the prospects of resolving it.

After the statement of the Minister, the members of the European Parliament expressed their support for the enhancement of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, underlining that the steps of Armenia, which is member of the Eurasian Economic Union, are exemplary in terms of positive engagement.

Foreign Minister of Armenia answered the questions of members of the EP Committee on Foreign Affairs related to various directions of the foreign policy of Armenia, the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, regional issues and the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process.
