The meeting of Edward Nalbandian and Federica Mogherini

On February 21, Edward Nalbandian, who is in Brussels on a working visit, met with Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission.

Welcoming the Foreign Minister of Armenia, EU High Representative thanked the Minister for the positive engagement of Armenia in the Eastern Partnership Summit held in Brussels.

Edward Nalbandian and Federica Mogherini commended the high level of regular contacts between Armenia and the EU.

The interlocutors touched upon the implementation of several provisions of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Advanced Partnership Agreement following the latter’s ratification by Armenia.

Minister Nalbandian and High Representative Mogherini discussed issues related to preparation of the first meeting of the Partnership Council.

In the course of the meeting, the sides discussed the Armenia-European Union cooperation, Armenia's participation in various EU projects, particularly COSME and HORIZON 2020, issues related to the negotiations on the European Common Aviation Area Agreement. Both sides commended Armenia`s joining to the Creative Europe programme next month.

The Foreign Minister thanked the European Union for the support provided for the development of Armenia since its independence, which, according to the Minister, played a significant role in the implementation of reforms and development of institutional capacities in Armenia.

In the context of cooperation between the Foreign Ministry of Armenia and the EU External Action Service, the EU assistance to the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia was reflected on.
The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the EU High Representative exchanged views on a number of international and regional pressing issues. Edward Nalbandian briefed Federica Mogherini on the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
At the end of the meeting, Edward Nalbandian and Federica Mogherini, as the Co-Chairs of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Council, signed document on the implementation of the EU-Armenia Partnership Priorities.
