Foreign Minister of Armenia received the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator

On March 6, Foreign Minister Nalbandian received Shombi Sharp, the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia, on the occasion of handing over the copies of the accreditation letters.

Welcoming the guest, Edward Nalbandian highlighted that Armenia, since its accession to the UN, actively participates in the activities of the Organization and its structures and is determined to continue the involvement with a positive agenda in the implementation of the UN goals. Foreign Minister highly assessed the effective cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the UN Office in Armenia, underlining that the newly appointed Head of the UN Office will bring his contribution to the effective implementation of UN programmes in Armenia.

Thanking for the reception, Shombi Sharp noted that he would spare no effort to ensure the continuity of the fruitful implementation of Armenia - UN joint projects in different spheres.

At the meeting, the sides touched upon the Sustainable Development Goals and, in that context, both sides commended the process of active implementation of SDGs in Armenia.

The interlocutors touched upon the preparatory works for the Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan in October.

Edward Nalbandian briefed Shombi Sharp on the joint efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
