On March 19, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received Woo Yoon-keun, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (residence in Moscow) on the occasion of handing over the copies of his credentials.

Congratulating Ambassador Woo Yoon-keun, Minister Nalbandian expressed hope that the Ambassador will make during his tenure an important contribution to the development and strengthening of bilateral relations. Edward Nalbandian considered symbolic that exactly today the decision on exemption of Korean citizens from visa requirement has entered into force.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and good wishes, the newly appointed Ambassador noted that he is honoured to represent Korea in a country with such a rich history like Armenia. Woo Yoon-keun assured that upon the instruction of the President of Korea he would spare no efforts to deepen the Armenian-Korean cooperation in different spheres.

Minister Nalbandian and Ambassador Woo Yoon-keun exchanged views on the issues related to political, economic, educational and cultural cooperation, as well as the expansion of the legal framework.

The interlocutors touched upon the steps taken towards establishing cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and Korea.

The sides highly appreciated the active work of the friendship groups operating in the parliaments of the two countries, which contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

Minister Nalbandian presented to Ambassador Woo Yoon-keun the preparations for the Summit of La Francophonie to be held in October in Yerevan.

Foreign Minister of Armenia and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues and ways to solve them. Ambassador Woo Yoon-keun briefed on the efforts aimed at strengthening peace and stability in the Korean peninsula as well as recent developments.

Edward Nalbandian briefed the Ambassador on the efforts of Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
