Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimian participated in the opening ceremony of Regional Thematic Expert Consultation Meeting

On April 19, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Ashot Hovakimian participated in the opening ceremony of the Regional Thematic Expert Consultation meeting on sustainable management of World Heritage properties of Religious Interest focused on Eastern Europe, which is held within the framework of the World Heritage International Assistance.

Welcoming the participants of the consultation, Ashot Hovakimian noted that the implementation of the project will contribute to the development of sustainable governance of World Heritage properties of Religious Interest, serving as a precedent for other places of religious significance both in Armenia and other countries.

The Deputy Minister expressed hope that the results of the consultation will be an important precedent for managing properties of religious interest both in Armenia and in other countries.

Information note: The conference is held by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO, operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the framework of the UNESCO-approved and financed programme. In 1996-2017 Armenia submitted 12 project proposals, 6 of them, including the above mentioned project, have been approved and financed by UNESCO, with a total budget of 106,700 US dollars.
