Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan met with the President of the Parliament of Cyprus

On May 22, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met Demetris Syllouris, President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, who is in Yerevan on an official visit.

Greeting the guest, Foreign Minister of Armenia noted that he is glad to welcome the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus and his delegation. Minister Mnatsakanyan noted, throughout his diplomatic career in different countries he has always had warm and effective cooperation with Cypriot colleagues, which comes from the traditional friendship of two countries.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the President of the Cypriot Parliament noted that the visit to Armenia has an intensive schedule and is a good opportunity to discuss prospects for further enhancement and development of relations between the two brotherly countries.

Throughout the meeting the interlocutors touched upon a number of bilateral agenda issues, noting that the two countries are bonded through strong historical ties based on friendship and solidarity.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Demetris Syllouris commended the strong inter-state relations established between Armenia and Cyprus, highlighting the reciprocal willingness to deepen the cooperation in all spheres of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister of Armenia and the President of Cypriot Parliament acknowledged with satisfaction the effective cooperation established between the two countries on the international platforms and discussed the issues of promoting the cooperation in different spheres even further.

Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Demetris Syllouris held a detailed exchange of views on regional and international urgent issues.

Minister briefed the Cypriot Parliament delegation on the efforts aimed at exclusively peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the format of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ format. In this context Minister Mnatsakanyan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship. He underscored that for the success of the process it is important to ensure an environment conducive to peace.
