Foreign Minister of Armenia received the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

On May 28, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Bridget Brink, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

Welcoming the guest, Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia highly values the comprehensive cooperation with the United States, underscoring that Armenia intends to further develop Armenian-American friendly partnership.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Bridget Brink first congratulated Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on assuming the post of Foreign Minister and extended good wishes on the occasion of the day of historic importance for Armenia - the 100th anniversary of the First Republic. US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State expressed readiness to take with the new administration of Armenia joint practical steps towards deepening the Armenian-American relations.

The interlocutors agreed that high-level meetings provide a good opportunity to discuss the agenda issues of the two friendly countries, as well as the steps aimed at further enhancement and deepening of collaboration.

In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral political dialogue and intensification of trade and economic relations. In this context, the importance of an effective work of the Armenian-American Trade and Investment Council and the Armenian-American Intergovernmental Commission was particularly highlighted.

A special reference was made to the initiatives in the cultural sphere, considering as a successful example the joint project with the United States Agency for International Development and the Smithsonian Institution aimed at introducing the historical and cultural heritage of Armenia at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival.

A number of international and regional issues were on the agenda of the meeting.

Foreign Minister of Armenia highlighted the efforts exerted by the US together with other Minsk Group Co-Chair countries - Russia and France, towards peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reiterating Armenia's commitment to the exclusively peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this context both sides emphasized the need to create and strengthen an environment conducive to peace.
