On May 30, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is part of the delegation headed by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Georgia on an official visit, met with Mikheil Janelidze, the Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Georgia.

Welcoming the guest and congratulating him upon his appointment as Foreign Minister, Foreign Minister of Georgia expressed his pleasure to meet his colleague from friendly Armenia in Tbilisi. Considering it symbolic that the Armenian Prime Minister makes his first official visit to Georgia, Mikheil Janelidze expressed conviction that it will give a new momentum to the development of good neighbourly relations between the two countries.

In his turn, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Foreign Minister of Armenia noted that during his tenure he will take all possible steps towards further development of the Armenian-Georgian relations. Minister Mnatsakanyan pointed out the reciprocal readiness to deepen and enhance the cooperation based on mutual understanding and respect.

Both sides confirmed their readiness to further deepen and strengthen the ties between the two countries, highlighting in this regard the role of effective cooperation and regular sectoral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, as well as regular meetings of Foreign Ministers.

In the course of the meeting, a detailed discussion on a wide range of Armenian-Georgian agenda issues took place. Foreign Ministers focused on issues related to enhancing political dialogue, deepening trade and economic relations, cooperation on international platforms, expansion of legal framework.

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia exchanged views on the issues of concern for Georgian Armenians, touched upon a number of urgent regional and international issues.

The Foreign Minister briefed his Georgian counterpart on the efforts aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ format, reaffirming Armenia's commitment to the exclusively peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
