Meeting of the Foreign Minister of Armenia with the members of the Russian Federation Council

On June 7, within the framework of a visit to Moscow, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia, had a working breakfast with MPs and senators representing all the political factions of Russia’s State Duma and the Federation Council.

Welcoming Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, the Russian lawmakers underlined the importance of holding regular meetings at such level to get first-hand information on the developments of bilateral multifaceted cooperation. The latters expressed their support for the steps aimed at further deepening of the Armenian-Russian allied relations and strategic cooperation.

The interlocutors touched upon the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, which occupies a special role in advancing bilateral allied relations.

Touching upon the recent internal political developments in Armenia, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan underlined that the agenda of these developments was purely inner-Armenian, all the changes took place within the framework of Armenia’s Constitution and laws. The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented Government's program and the priorities highlighted therein, the main directions of foreign policy outlined by the Government. In this context Minister Mnatsakanyan reflected on the prospects of development of bilateral relations, by underlining that the Armenian-Russian allied relations are natural and rational.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia and the representatives of the Russian legislative body highly appreciated the Armenian-Russian parliamentary cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The interlocutors highlighted the effective role of the Armenian community in the further development of traditional and friendly relations between Armenia and Russia.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented in details the process of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and highlight the important contribution of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, including Russia in the process of the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan briefed on Armenia's position on the settlement of the conflict, stressing that Armenia`s priority is the status of Artsakh and the security of its people.
