Armenian Foreign Minister received European Parliament delegation

On June 18, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received the delegation of the European Parliament headed by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister. The delegation of the European Parliament included parliamentarians representing various political forces of Germany, United Kingdom, Romania, Croatia, Slovakia, Cyprus and Lithuania.

The Foreign Minister welcomed regular visits of European parliamentarians to Armenia, highlighting the importance of the platform for parliamentary cooperation within the framework of Armenia-EU relations.

The European parliamentarians expressed their gratitude for the reception, underlining that the European Parliament attaches great importance to relations with Armenia, and the visit is a good opportunity to address the multifaceted issues of the Armenia-EU agenda as well as to get acquainted firsthand with the developments in Armenia.

Noting that on April 11, the Armenian National Assembly unanimously ratified the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, the interlocutors voiced their hope that the European Parliament will soon ratify the agreement.

The participants of the meeting highlighted the importance of launching the Armenia-EU visa liberalization dialogue.

The Foreign Minister informed the interlocutors that tomorrow he will leave for Brussels to attend the first meeting of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council and meet with a number of high-ranking EU officials.

At the request of the guests, Minister Mnatsakanyan touched in detail upon the approaches and priorities of the Armenian side with regards the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stressing that for the advancement of the process it is necessary to create an environment conducive to peace.

The Armenian Foreign Minister presented to the European parliamentarians Armenia's relations with neighboring countries, as well as country's position on regional issues and the ways to resolve them.
