Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan Received UNICEF Representative in Armenia

On June 26, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Tanya Radoča, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Armenia.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Mnatsakanyan highly appreciated the activities of UNICEF in Armenia aimed at protecting children's rights, as well as addressing health and education issues through various programmes and initiatives. Foreign Minister noted that along with the effectiveness of the carried out efforts, there are still issues that need attention, and Armenia will continue taking steps towards protecting children's rights, including through legislative reforms.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Armenia highlighted the progress achieved in the field of child protection in Armenia in recent years.

Minister Mnatsakanyan also touched upon the issue of implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing in this context the importance of cooperation with partner organizations. Minister underscored that Armenia is among the countries that will present their voluntary national revisions on Sustainable Development Goals.

The interlocutors discussed the issues of protection of children's rights, challenges and priorities in this area, implementation of joint programmes and new initiatives. In this regard, the importance of addressing the problems of children living in border areas was emphasized.

Foreign Minister of Armenia and the UNICEF Representative also touched upon the creative education agenda, highlighted the experience of Armenia and success achieved in this field, particularly, the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, SMART Educational Center, positive experience of Dasaran.am educational platform and the possibility of developing new projects on that basis.

At the end of the meeting Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Tanya Radoča signed an Action Plan for 2018 within UNICEF Armenia Country Programme of Cooperation for 2016-2020.
