Official Reception in Astana on the Occasion of the 27th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Armenia

On September 21, on the occasion of the 27th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Kazakhstan organized a reception in the ceremonial hall of the hotel “Wyndham Garden” in Astana.

More than 200 guests attended the reception. Among them were parliamentarians of the Kazakh Senate and Mazhilis, Ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of diplomatic corps, political parties, intelligentsia, as well as journalists, businessmen, and representatives of the Armenian community.

Ambassador Ara Sahakyan and Timur Toktabayev, Vice Minister of Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, delivered welcoming remarks. The Ambassador emphasized in his address the enduring meaning of the Independence, as well as the importance of development of bilateral relations with Kazakhstan.

Afterwards, the Ambassador presented to Timur Toktabayev, Vice Minister of Investments and Development, as a gift the first copy of "Breeze from Ararat", an anthology of Armenian poetry, that has been recently published in the Kazakh language upon the initiative of Hayk Terteryan, the Honourary Consul of the Republic of Armenia, and with the support of the Embassy of Armenia to Kazakhstan.

Renowned Armenian artist and duduk performer Kamo Seyranyan and violinist Andranik Arabyan performed Armenian melodies.

Guests had the opportunity to taste the dishes of local Armenian chefs and Armenian brandy "Ararat".

The Ambassadors and other dignitaries attending the event received as a gift from the Ambassador of Armenia the duduks made of apricot tree.
