Acting Foreign Minister received the UN Special Rapporteur

On November 14, acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Clément Nyaletsossi Voule, the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association.

Welcoming the guest, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan emphasized that the Armenian government attaches great importance to cooperation with UN structures in charge of human rights. Both sides highlighted the importance of the UN Special Rapporteur’s visit to Armenia, which provides a good opportunity to gain a first-hand understanding of the latest developments in Armenia and to outline the agenda for future cooperation.

The acting Foreign Minister briefed his counterpart on the latest internal political developments in Armenia, emphasizing the government’s commitment to implementing  comprehensive reforms agenda aimed at strengthening the rule of law and justice, fighting corruption and creating equal opportunities in social and economic spheres, based on the people’s mandate it enjoys. The interlocutors stressed the importance of involving women, young people and civil society groups in this process as a crucial component of the sustainable development agenda.
