The Foreign Minister of Armenia met with the Minister for International Development Cooperation of Sweden

On March 21 Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Peter Eriksson, the Minister for International Development Cooperation.

Welcoming the guest’s first visit to Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan congratulated Peter Eriksson upon his appointment in this responsible position and wished him all success in his important mission.

The sides commended the dynamics of political dialogue between the two countries and reiterated reciprocal commitment to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats. Ministers emphasized the importance of organizing high-level contacts and visits.

Minister Mnatsakanyan also underscored the role of parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral relations.

Minister Mnatsakanyan touched upon the latest domestic political developments in Armenia and the government’s reform process based on the broad popular mandate which is aimed at the further strengthening democracy, human rights and rule of law.

As a government priority, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of establishing favorable conditions for a high-tech and innovation-driven economic revolution.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed his interlocutor on the preparations for the 23rd World Congress on Information Technology to be held in Yerevan in October and expressed hope that the Swedish side will have an active participation in this event.

The agenda of the meeting included issues related to the perspectives of cooperation in the spheres of environment protection and alternative energy.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the partnership between Armenia and the EU. In this context, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan underlined that the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership provide a good opportunity to sum up the achievements and outline the prospects of joint work, by paying a particular attention to the youth and innovation.
