Annual Conference of MFA Apparatus and Heads of Diplomatic Service Abroad. Day 2

On August 28, in Yerevan, the Annual Conference of MFA Apparatus and Heads of Diplomatic Service Abroad commenced the day before, continued its work. 

The second day of the conference started with a panel discussion entitled "The Development Agenda of the Republic of Armenia" moderated by Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. The list of speakers of the panel included Tigran Khachatryan, Minister of Economy, Arayik Harutyunyan Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Hakob Arshakyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry,  Armen Nurbekyan,  Head of Dilijan Training and Research Centre of the Central Bank of Armenia, Ashot Smbatyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Germany, Mher Margaryan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN. During the discussion, the sides exchanged views on the perspectives of developing creative education, innovation, and high technology in Armenia.

The discussion on "Traditional Description and Image Adaptation (History and Armenian Identity)" was chaired by Ruben Karapetyan, Advisor to the Foreign Minister. Following participants delivered speeches at the panel: Ashot Melkonyan, Academician, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Harutyun Marutyan, Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Garen Nazarian, Ambassador of Armenia to the Holy See, Vahe Gabrielyan Director of the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Vahe Gevorgyan, Adviser of the Foreign Minister. The participants exchanged views on the Armenian identity, historical past, heritage and traditional values ​​that are at the core of Armenia's representation image.

Speakers of the third thematic discussion entitled "New Image Opportunities (Democracy, Innovation, Engagement, Solidarity of Small States)" were Arman Jilavyan, Head of “Aurora” Humanitarian Initiative, Arman Jilavyan, member of UWC Dilijan Board of Trustees, Ara Tadevosyan, Director of the Mediamax News Agency, Andranik Hovhannisyan, Ambassador of Armenia to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Geneva, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to Council of Europe and Hasmik Tolmajian, Ambassador of Armenia to the French Republic. The discussion was moderated by Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonian.

At the center of the discussion was new Armenia, which presents itself to the world with a more ambitious vision. Participants exchanged views about the 2018 Velvet Revolution, its peaceful nature, demands of social justice, the rule of law, and the emphasis on equality before the law, as well as the opportunities it provides in terms of making Armenia's voice more prominent in the international arena especially in the spheres of human rights and freedoms and presenting Armenia to the world as one of the leaders of democracy and liberalism.

At the end of the second day of the conference, the participants had extensive discussions on the domestic reforms implemented at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the measures taken in that direction.
